Established in 1968, Thai Gypsum is Thailand’s pioneer manufacturer of quality gypsum plasterboards and plasters. The company has been steadily increasing its capacity, product range, and quality over a quarter of century and its “Gyproc” brand is currently well known in the construction industry in Thailand and Asia Pacific. To further supply the rapidly expanding markets within Thailand and the region, Thai Gypsum built its second state-of-the-art gypsum plant in 1992 at Laem Chabang. One of the most technologically advanced in Asia Pacific.
With markets throughout the Asia Pacific Region in over 20 countries including Singapore, Taiwan, Hongkong, Malaysia, Australia and Indochina region, Gyproc’s high quality products and system have gained international recognition. In 1995, Thai Gypsum was accredited with ISO 9002 by BVQI. Before that, the company was awarded “Manufacturer of the Year” for two consecutive years in 1987 and 1988.
In December 1999, the company became a subsidiary of BPB (British Plaster Board) Pcl, the world leader in the supply of plasterboard, plasters, insulation, ceiling tiles and related products for internal linings. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Gyproc’s history as the company now enjoys the global support and technical expertise of a prestigious and well-known world leader operating 90 manufacturing plants in over 50 countries worldwide. Furthermore, it has provided BPB with a strategic position in Asia and it has chosen Thai Gypsum’s Bangkok Head Office as its regional headquarters for its operations in Thailand, China, India and throughout the region.
The second line was operated in 2005 in order to meet the ever growing Asian demand. With production capacity across two high speed production lines now with capacity of 75 million square meters per annum, the plant now serves both the Thailand domestic market, as well as over 30 different markets across Asia, North Africa and the Middle East regions. The plant manufactures a complete range of gypsum plasterboard, gypsum ceiling tile, metal system components, and powder finishing products, focusing on offering complete interior building for its customer.
In December 2005, Saint-Gobain, the world's largest building products manufacturer, acquired BPB Pcl of the United Kingdom, the world's largest gypsum manufacturer. Presently Thai Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain’s Gypsum Activity, Construction Product Sector.
